Sacem/SDRM & Muserk extend partnership to include all digital mechanical rights in the United States
29 April 2022 - Press release
Muserk, the technology-driven global music rights administrator, has extended its existing agreement with the Society of Authors and Composers and Publishers of Music (Sacem) and its mechanical rights branch SDRM to represent their digital mechanical rights in the United States.
SDRM/Sacem and Muserk have been working together to collect for SDRM/Sacem’s mechanical rights on YouTube in the United States since January 2018. The results, driven by Muserk’s proprietary technology, Blue Matter™, have been so efficient, that Sacem/SDRM has decided to expand the cooperation to include more digital mechanical collections from the United States.
The multi-year deal will see Muserk managing SDRM/Sacem’s works in the United States, including parsing and ingesting works into YouTube and The MLC, matching all SDRM/Sacemworks to all available usage data, managing disputes and conflicts and providing fast and transparent distribution files to SDRM/Sacem, all in formats tailored to fit SDRM/Sacem’s needs.
“Sacem is a key player in the industry, and we are proud to continue our relationship with the organization,” said Paul Goldman, founder and CEO of Muserk. “In this ever-growing digital landscape, it is harder than ever to track and match all works and usage. It has never been more important that we work together for the good of all creators and rights holders, and Sacem is at the forefront of that effort.”
“As a not-for-profit collective management organization but also as a data company with a worldwide footprint, Sacem is always looking for the most relevant and cost-effective solutions to allow its members to receive the fair remuneration of their work. We found in Muserk a partner who understands our stakes and is able to extend Sacem’s reach in the United States with quick and effective answers.” said Caroline Champarnaud, Director of International Development at Sacem. “Muserk helps us leverage this value by combining their excellent technology with their top-notch copyright team, so we are pleased to extend and continue our alliance with them.”
