Richard Thompson To Headline Sutton's Folk In The Park 2025

Guitar hero and classic singer-songwriter Richard Thompson will headline this year's Folk In The Park, the independent, one-day festival in Sutton, south London curated by local, celebrated grassroots venue the Sound Lounge. It will be Thompson's only London performance of the summer.

FITP 2025 takes place on Saturday, August 16th in Manor Park, Sutton, with gates opening at 11am. A hand-picked line-up of artists will appear across two stages, also including such national and international names as Eddi Reader, the Tom Robinson Band, Thea Gilmore and Ashley Campbell. Other notables include AMA UK Instrumentalist of the Year Keiron Marshall, Ren Harvieu and East of Reno. The festival will be hosted by Sound Lounge patron and music journalist Paul Sexton.

Thompson's appearance maintains the strong Fairport Convention flavour that has run through the festival in recent years, following performances by the Ric Sanders Trio in 2022 and Iain Matthews in 2023. "I’m really looking forward to performing at Folk In The Park this summer, where I’ll be performing acoustic versions of material old and new," says Thompson. "It looks a lovely location and the line-up will make for a great day of music. See you there!”

The festival will feature food stalls and bars, craft workshops and a family zone. The Sound Lounge is the UK's first Carbon Neutral music venue, and Folk In The Park will mirror those sustainable standards by ensuring that all food is locally sourced and plant-based. Tier 2 tickets are now available at £50 plus booking fee at folkinthepark.com.
