Q Magazine, the UK's greatest music magazine, tonight unveiled the nominations for the Q Awards 2019 in association with Absolute Radio. The Q Awards, now in their 29th year, is one of the most prestigious and anticipated nights on the music calendar.  Following the massive success of the awards' new format over the past three years, the Q Awards will again feature a very special intimate post-awards gig which will be announced very soon. This year, for the first time ever, there will be an exclusive and already sold-out pre-awards gig headlined by Biffy Clyro. It will take place at Camden's Roundhouse the night before the awards.

Leading the nominations this year are global pop sensation Billie Eilish and British quartet The 1975, both with an outstanding tally of four award nominations each. The American teenage star is nominated for Q Best Track, Q Best Solo Act, Q Best Album and Q Best Act In The World Today presented by Rocksteady Music School. After a year of headlining arenas and festivals around the world, The 1975 are nominated for Q Best Track, Q Best Album, Q Best Live Performance presented by The Cavern Club and Q Best Act In The World Today presented by Rocksteady Music School.

The Q Awards 2019 shortlist is longer than it's ever been due to "how brilliant music is right now", comments Q Editor Ted Kessler. Continuing the flood of nominations are grime superstar Stormzy and Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi, both nominated for three awards including Q Best Track and Q Best Solo Act.Florence + The Machine is also nominated three times, for Q Best Live Performance presented by the Cavern ClubQ Best Solo Act and Q Best Act In The World Today presented by Rocksteady Music School.

Also leading the 2019 nominations are Little SimzslowthaiAJ TraceyLiam GallagherLana Del Rey and Dave. They receive two nominations each, including Q Best Track and Q Best Album among others.

The prestigious Q Best Album category will once again be a hotly contested award: the other nominees are Sleaford ModsSharon Van EttenFoals and Fat White FamilyBillie EilishThe 1975Lana Del ReyslowthaiDave and Little Simz complete the category.

Q Magazine Editor Ted Kessler commented:

"It's only when you've finished compiling these shortlists that you start seeing the patterns – in particular, Billie Eilish and The 1975 duking it out with Lewis Capaldi and Stormzy for the most potential Q awards. But the thing that is most striking when sifting through the votes is how much amazing music has been released this year, and how much you've forgotten about. These shortlists focus memories. Also, it is a source of deep regret that there are so many incredible records and performances that don't quite make the cut. They were nominated by fans, just not quite enough. For all of those reasons these shortlists are slightly longer than typical: we wanted the light to shine the light on as many as possible. I can't wait to have the winners revealed on October 16."
