PRS for Music announce exclusive ‘behind-the-songwriter’ interviews for music creators during Ivors week

PRS for Music will host a program of online sessions to celebrate the art, craft and creativity of its members during the week of The Ivors. Free webinars and interviews will offer songwriters, composers, producers and artists, a chance to learn about the music industry from some of the best in their field.
Available to watch on the PRS for Music YouTube channel and via M magazine, the four-day program of events will take place 1-4 September and run alongside sessions hosted by The Ivors Academy.
Grammy-nominated, BRIT Award winner, and Ivor Novello Award nominee, Jamie Hartman, will launch the week in a video interview from his home in the UK. Jamie speaks to M magazine about his songwriting and production process with a range of artists including Lewis Capaldi, Calvin Harris and Celeste, among many others.
Multi-platinum-selling songwriter, vocal producer and singer, Pam Sheyne, shares her experience as a topline songwriter in a webinar masterclass. Pam also reflects on co-writing Genie In A Bottle for Christina Aguilera. The UK No.1 hit single won her International Hit of The Year at The Ivors in 2000.
Multi-platinum award-winning artists and songwriters, Fred and Richard Fairbrass, also speak to M magazine in a video interview from home. The brothers are one of few nominees to have won the PRS for Music Most Performed Work Award twice. Winning the prestigious accolade for I’m Too Sexy in 1992 and Deeply Dippy in 1993.
Throughout the week, PRS for Music’s M magazine will feature a selection of its top writer members in an exclusive Ivor Novello Award themed ‘I Wrote That’ series. The look-behind-the-scenes feature includes Jazz-pop singer-songwriter Jamie Cullum, Nainita Desai, who has written the scores for numerous Bafta, Emmy, Oscar award-winning and nominated films and TV series, plus Martin Phipps, who is nominated for an Ivor Novello Award this year for his work on Netflix drama, The Crown.
The winner of PRS for Music’s #LyricsWeLeanOn competition will be announced on Friday 4 September. PRS for Music members were asked to share songs and lyrics that have provided the most comfort throughout the current pandemic. The lucky winner will finish the week on a high note as they receive an exclusive one-to-one virtual masterclass with BRIT and Grammy-award-winning producer Steve Levine.
