Proper Music Distribution Receives Queen’s Award for Enterprise

• Awarded in International Trade category, for outstanding growth in overseas sales
• Only 141 awards for International Trade made in 2022, from 225 organisations recognised

 

Part of the Utopia Music family, Proper Music Group’s distribution arm, Proper Music Distribution (PMD), has been awarded the UK’s most prestigious business award, The Queen’s Award for Enterprise. 

The Award was given for excellence in the International Trade category; following recommendation by the Prime Minister and approval by Her Majesty The Queen. It recognises outstanding growth in overseas trade across the past three years. PMD’s exports increased by 85% over the period, growing to nearly a quarter of the company’s turnover.  

The Award, which celebrates the success of pioneering organisations, consolidates Proper’s standing as one of the UK’s leading physical music distributors. Representing 12% of the UK music market, Proper Music Distribution is one of 141 companies recognised by The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade in 2022.

Now in its 56th year, the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise 2022 also includes 51 awards for Innovation, 31 awards for Sustainable Development and 9 awards for Promoting Opportunity (through Social Mobility).  There were 232 Awards given overall, to 225 companies.
