PPL SIGNS CONTRACT WITH LATVIAN MUSIC SOCIETY LAIPA
14 October 2010New deal will benefit performers both in the UK and in Latvia
London, October 14th, 2010. International music licensing company PPL has today announced a new contract with LAIPA in Latvia.
The contract means LAIPA and PPL’s performer members will benefit from the use of their repertoire in their respective countries.
Head of International at PPL, Laurence Oxenbury: “The contract with LAIPA is our second in The Baltics and is demonstrative of PPL’s ongoing commitment to be a world leader in international rights management. We will continue to support licensing efforts throughout the world.”
PPL now has over 50 contracts with 28 countries around the world and collects international performance rights for 80% of its members. PPL’s international income for 2009 reached £21.6 million, which represents an approximate growth of 40% over 2008.
The total value of global performing rights in 2009 was $1.6bn.
