Play It Again Sam partner with Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds On new album Wild God

Play It Again Sam, an imprint of the [PIAS] label group, have announced that they will release the new album from legendary band Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds under a worldwide license.

This exclusive agreement sees Play It Again Sam work with Cave’s own label Bad Seed on the release of Wild God, the band’s 18th studio album, which is scheduled for release on August 30th.

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds are one of the world’s most exciting, influential and innovative bands. Driven by a continuous creative evolution, their music displays a diverse, often contradictory range of styles. Across 18 studio albums, from 1984’s From Her to Eternity to 2024’s Wild God, they have consistently reinvented their sound, with Cave considering it as their “solemn duty to turn against what has gone before”.

Alongside Nick Cave the current band line-up consists of Thomas Wydler, Martyn Casey, Jim Sclavunos, Warren Ellis & George Vjestica, and describing the new album Cave said, “Wild God…there’s no fucking around with this record. When it hits, it hits. It lifts you. It moves you. I love that about it. I hope the album has the effect on listeners that it’s had on me. It bursts out of the speaker, and I get swept up with it.”

Kenny Gates, Co-Founder and CEO of [PIAS] said, “I have been a massive fan of Nick Cave since the early days of Play It Again Sam when we were importing his Birthday Party albums and it is the realization of a long held dream to partner with one of my all-time musical heroes. We are all so excited to work with him and his team who will bring expertise, experience and loads of passion to the creative journey we are about to embark on together. The new album is incredible, in my opinion his best ever, and we will go over the barricades to deliver the global success it deserves.”

Brian Message, who manages Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds said, “We’re very happy to be teaming up with [PIAS] and excited to work together to realize our shared ambitions for the new Nick Cave & Bad Seeds album. The passion that they have for this project is incredible and we are confident that together we can achieve great things for this record. It absolutely feels like a couple of teams coming together at the right time. I am really looking forward to the journey.”
