Longstanding Board Director to Step Down after 26 Years

[PIAS], one of the world’s leading music groups, has announced the retirement of Nick Hartley, the company’s Group Chief Operating Officer (COO) & Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

After a distinguished career spanning over four decades in the music industry, Hartley will step down from both roles and his position on the company’s board, effective December 31, 2025.

Nick started his career as a chartered accountant before moving from the UK to Australia in 1984 to take up his first music industry role with EMI Australia, where he quickly rose to become Finance Director. He then moved to PolyGram Australia in 1990 as CFO and was promoted to the role of PolyGram UK Group CFO in late 1995 after returning to the UK. He left PolyGram in late 1998 after its acquisition by Universal and joined [PIAS] in January 2000.

In his 26 years at the company Nick has played a pivotal role in the growth and success of [PIAS] and his financial leadership and strategic vision have greatly contributed to the company’s reputation as a global leader in the independent music sector. Under his guidance, the company has expanded its global operations, enhanced financial performance, and continued to foster successful partnerships with artists and labels. He also played an important role in the acquisition of [PIAS] by Universal in 2024.

Nick Hartley said, “I am grateful for the incredible journey I have had at [PIAS]. It has been a real honour to work alongside such talented and passionate individuals, many who have become lifelong friends. Together, we have navigated the evolving landscape of the music industry, and I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together. As I prepare for this new chapter in my life, I am confident that [PIAS] will continue to thrive and innovate.”

During his tenure, Hartley has been instrumental in implementing key financial strategies and commercial initiatives that have positioned [PIAS] at the forefront of the global music industry.

Kenny Gates CEO of [PIAS] said, “It is with a genuinely heavy heart that we announce the retirement of our great friend and colleague Nick Harley who has been a cornerstone of [PIAS] for over a quarter of a century. His expertise and dedication to our company have been invaluable to our growth and success. While we will miss his extraordinary financial leadership, we wish him well in his fully deserved retirement.”

As [PIAS] prepares for this transition, the company remains committed to its mission of supporting independent artists and a successor to Nick Hartley will be announced in due course.
