peermusic acquires London-based independent music publisher, Paul Rodriguez Music

peermusic has bought London-based independent music publisher, Paul Rodriguez Music, it was jointly announced today by Nigel Elderton, President Europe & Managing Director, peermusic U.K. and Lucy Rodriguez-Laranjo, Paul Rodriguez Music (PRM) Director.
Lucy Rodriguez-Laranjo, who took over the forty-three year old company in 2013, said of the sale: “We’re delighted to have found the perfect new home for the PRM catalogue, and we are sure our writer, publisher and label clients will be well looked after at peermusic. We were keen to sell to an independent music publisher who shared our values of good client service, flexibility, and championing the independent music business, as well as understanding, appreciating and having the resources to further promote our diverse catalogue.”
Nigel Elderton commented: “It is a great privilege to have acquired the catalogue that Paul and Lucy Rodriguez have built over many years. As a global independent publisher we share a similar ethos for the service and attention we give to our writers and I believe that PRM will perfectly dovetail with our existing catalogue.”
From its earliest days, PRM has also been involved in the representation of artists’ and record labels’ neighboring rights, and has built up a vast publishing and neighboring rights catalogues of repertoire including pop, dance, jazz, blues, and reggae. On the media side, PRM controls the music to the popular show “The Weakest Link” and has long-standing associations with some of the UK’s top media composers including Paul Farrer, Julian Ronnie, David Lowe, Dave Hubbard, and Paul Lawler, as well as administering publishing arms for television production companies such as 12 Yard Productions (until it was bought by ITV), Cicada Films, Oxford Film Co, and Bullseye TV (now part of Zodiak). PRM also has its own catalogue of MCPS library music and have acquired other library music catalogues in recent years, including AVP and Big Noize.
