Partisan Records Appoints Theresa Adebiyi as Creative Director



Label Celebrates Wins at Libera Awards

 

Partisan Records, the independent label with offices in New York, Los Angeles and London, has appointed Theresa Adebiyi as Creative Director.

Theresa, whose appointment is effective immediately, joins the company from Ninja Tune, where she was Creative Marketing Manager, working on global award-winning campaigns for the likes of Young Fathers, Little Dragon, Maribou State, Cinematic Orchestra, Jordan Rakei, Actress, Roots Manuva. Before Ninja Tune, Theresa worked at Lex Records across a broad range of music and film projects such as the MF DOOM x Clarks Originals and writer Alan Moore and director Mitch Jenkins film series “The Show” supported in part by Creators Project / Vice.

“I’m incredibly excited to be joining Partisan in this global role,” Adebiyi shares, adding “I’ve long admired the label and have watched it go from strength to strength. I’m proud to be a part of such a strong and ambitious team and am looking forward to helping shape the label’s future.”

Partisan Records was co-founded in Brooklyn in 2007 by Tim Putnam and Ian Wheeler and its roster includes artists such as Cigarettes After Sex, IDLES, Fontaines DC, Deer Tick, Eagulls, The Black Angels, John Grant + more. The company also represents the Fela Kuti catalogue. 

Theresa, who will divide her time between the company’s London and New York offices, will have responsibility for overseeing the intersection between A&R and marketing, working to translate the artist's aesthetic vision to the marketing team and the needs of the marketing team to the artist. She will ensure that the visual output of all artists on the roster maintains a consistently high standard and will be work towards empowering both the marketing team at the label and the artists on the roster.

In addition to this, Theresa will also have UK-specific product management responsibilities for select album campaigns while also overseeing the creative direction and product development for the Fela Kuti catalogue.

Theresa will report directly to Partisan Records President Tim Putnam and to Jeff Bell, General Manager of International on all UK product management.

Partisan Records is also celebrating a number of wins at The American Association of Independent Music’s (A2IM) Libera Awards, which took place in New York last week on Thursday June 20th

As well as recognition for IDLES who won ‘Best Breakthrough Artist’ and Bombino who were awarded ‘Best World Album,’ Partisan Records was recognised in ‘Label of the Year (Medium)’ category.
