Pablo Bowman Navarro wins 3 ASCAP London Music Awards including Songwriter Of The Year



Steve Mac Takes Home Song of the Year and Top Streaming Song for “Shivers” by Ed Sheeran  

Daniel Pemberton Wins 2 Box Office Film of the Year Awards; Mogwai and Jonny Greenwood Pick Up TV and Film Composition Awards 

 

ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, today announces the winners of the ASCAP London Music Awards 2023. Shining a light on incredible British songwriting and composing talent for their continued US success. 

Songwriting and composing are at the heart of the music industry, the foundation for the successful careers of recording artists and for popular television series and films. The ASCAP London Music Awards are bestowed every year to recognize the top UK writers and composers while throughout the year ASCAP works to protect their songwriters and their copyrights. 

Multi-faceted songwriter Pablo Bowman Navarro takes home three awards including the coveted title of Songwriter of the Year and Top Hot Dance/Electronic Song. The latter comes alongside Sarah Baby BlanchardClaudia Valentina and Lostboy for “The Motto” by Tiësto and Ava Max. Navarro also wins a Hot Dance/Electronic Song award for “Numb” by Marshmello and Khalid, created with co-writer Richard Boardman, a fellow member of songwriting collective The Six. 

Navarro has steadily gained a profile as one of the world’s leading hitmakers over the last few years with a catalogue that includes Anne-Marie and Marshmello’s global hit “FRIENDS” as well as tracks for superstars such as Bebe Rexha, Jonas Brothers and Alan Walker. His catalogue has accumulated an impressive 7 billion streams on Spotify. 

Legendary songwriter Steve Mac takes home both Song of the Year and Top Streaming Song for the smash hit “Shivers” by Ed Sheeran. The work topped the charts all over the world, surpassing 1.35 billion streams on Spotify. “Shivers” continues Steve Mac and Ed Sheeran’s collaboration, with the pair working on some of Sheeran's biggest hits including 2017’s “Shape of You.” The two gongs represent Mac’s 20th ASCAP London Music Award, the latest in a glittering career. 

Aynzli Jones wins his first ever ASCAP London Music Award with the Winning Hot 100 Song award for “Woman” by Doja Cat. Described as a fusion of Afrobeats, pop and R&B, with lyrical themes of divine femininity and feminism, the song from Doja’s third studio album was a “sleeper success” that has now been certified triple platinum in the US. 

Top Box Office Film of the Year goes to Daniel Pemberton for his exceptional soundtrack for The Bad Guys. He also takes a Top Box Office Film award for his work on Amsterdam. Other Top Box Office Film awards go to John Lunn for Downton Abbey: A New EraDickon Hinchliffe for Father Stu, and Robin Carolan and Sebastian Gainsborough for The Northman. Joby Talbot wins for the second year in a row for Sing 2, Patrick Doyle wins for Death on the Nile and Jonny Greenwood scores a win for Licorice Pizza. The Radiohead multi-instrumentalist and accomplished composer was recognised in the same category last year for his soundtrack to Spencer

In the ever-popular world of film and TV streaming, Natalie Holt wins two awards — Top Streaming Film for her work on The Princess, and a Top Streaming Series award for her brilliant composition on the series Obi-Wan Kenobi. Other Top Streaming Series awards go to beloved Scottish band Mogwai for their exceptional work on the widely acclaimed crime drama Black Bird and Anne Nikitin for her outstanding score for the critically acclaimed show The Dropout

The talented trio of Barrie CadoganVirgil Howe and Lewis Wharton are awarded the Top Cable Series award for the iconic soundtrack to Better Call Saul, while Julian Gingell and Barry Stone win Top Network Series for another year for their work on the popular television show American Idol
