Launching this April 2024, Nothing Forced is a new agency from industry experts, and brothers Jeremy and Lawrence Abbott. NOTHING FORCES offers something different to artists and brands working within music and the creative space. In their respective careers as Managing Editor and Global Brand & Content Editor (Jeremy) and Art Director (Lawrence) have worked with the likes of Mixmag, NME, Boiler Room, Broadwick Live and various artists including SHERELLE, Ewan McVicar and Special Request, and now the two will marry their skills to offer clients solutions that will fuse perspectives across processes in strategy, design / creation, and delivery.

SYSTEMS NOT CAMPAIGNS: Tired of’ traditional’ and tired of the attitude towards the modern media landscape, Nothing Forced works by creating fully functioning blueprints that have longevity for clients. Using their expertise across three spaces of creation - Content, strategy and art direction, the brothers can curate, advise and execute projects that flourish in today’s digital world.

Having both worked across music and design for over a decade, music is in the brother’s DNA. Nothing Forced felt like a natural next step for the pair. In previous roles, Jeremy Abbott worked as the Global Brand & Content Editor and Digital Editor at Mixmag, where he was for over 8 years based across NYC and London and also acted as Managing Editor at NME revamping their digital and social strategy. This included launching their TikTok and carving out social strategies for events like Glastonbury, as well as flagship IP strategies for The Cover and brand activations. 

Lawrence Abbott’s experience in the design world is impressive and spreads across all realms of brand / artist identity - from 3D design and animation, to visual art and more. Lawrence  often collaborates with (though isn’t limited to) artists and labels within club culture and music. To celebrate and channel the visceral, sensational and emotive side of his artistic practice, with a wide cultural and contextual leaning towards where the scene began, he documents and navigates our current realities via. emerging technologies. Lawrence's tight connections with electronic music were deepened during his time working with Mixmag and Broadwick Live ( Printworks, The Beams) and with these platforms to promote, market and champion key moments in music history.

Although officially launching in April, Nothing Forced have already racked up an impressive roster of clients including Ewan McVicar, Sherelle, Pavilion Festival, DJ Bone, Lone, Special Request and Mixmag. Notable upcoming projects include a feature length documentary shot and directed by Jeremy surrounding Ewan McVicar’s sell out ‘Wee Toon Tour’ which took place around Scotland in late 2023, the production of a pilot series in collaboration with Mixmag and ongoing design work across Sherelle’s latest project, SHERELLELAND.

The duo will offer services that include; content creation and ideation, creative consultancy, brand identity, graphic strategies, bespoke artworks, strategic talent development, social media strategy, graphic design & art direction, 2D/3D motion languages, video & editing (short and long form).

Nothing Forced will work with clients to create a totally personalised strategy based on their needs and offer 1-1 time with two bright minds who know the industry inside out. No one wants to consume content and art that’s not authentic, as such, Jeremy and Lawrence create for the culturally conscious and deliver the same in turn.
