Legendary DJ and producer Norman Cook, better known as Fatboy Slim, announces his debut book, It Ain’t Over... ’Til the Fatboy Sings (Rocket 88 Books) will be released on 16th October and available here. The highly illustrated title celebrates his 40 years in showbiz and is a vivid celebration of indie, house, acid, and remix culture. Across 300+ pages, Norman’s photos, flyers, and stories take us on a rave through every scene he has helped shape since the mid 1980s.
To celebrate the launch of the book, The Theatre Royal, Brighton, will host an intimate evening on 14th October featuring a live conversation with Cook, an audience Q&A and the chance to meet him in person at an exclusive book signing (copies will be on sale on the night). The event will be hosted by TV and radio presenter, podcaster, writer and comedian, Guy Lloyd. Tickets are available here.
This special one-night-only event promises candid conversation, untold stories and rare insights into the man behind some of dance music's most iconic tracks. From his indie days with Paul Heaton in The Housemartins, tripping through hip-hop and acid jazz with Beats International and Freakpower, to his global superstardom as Fatboy Slim.
Norman said: "This year I'll have been in showbiz for 40 years, and to celebrate that we thought we'd create a big book full of stuff which I've kept over the years. Having played many energetic sets in Brighton before, I’m really excited to appear in one of my favourite venues for something a little different this time. It’ll be nice to get up close and personal with the audience in a beautiful setting and to share some of my stories from what’s been a rollercoaster career; there’s a lot to unpack so strap yourselves in!”
Alongside the book launch, British photographic artist Mark Vessey announces a unique collaboration with Fatboy Slim. The new work, titled ‘Norman’s Record Box’, captures one of the most personal treasures from Norman’s storied career. His Iconic record box (a replica of which has been specially created to house the Ultimate edition of It Ain’t Over Til The Fatboy Sings), transformed into a powerful piece of visual art.
The piece will be released exclusively through Hang-Up Gallery, one of London’s leading contemporary art spaces. A limited run of prints will be available today, both in the gallery and online via www.hanguppictures.com.
