Nizlopi

We wrote at the time "This is a song, lyric and vocal performance that really seems to touch people, and we're told it's 100% autobiographical. A surprise hit perhaps?" Nizlopi received a number of offers following RotD's initial support and eventually opted to release independently. By the time we featured Fine Story, Nizlopi's album was ready for release on their own FDM label through Nova/Pinnacle. Needless to say, RotD stuck with the band, and our feature meant that their 2004 In the City performance was one of the most exciting and best attended of the whole event. The rest is history - JCB Song became a number one single in the week before Christmas 2005. Nizlopi are also set to be the subjects of a BPI masterclass for independents.

Nizlopi's manager and label head Kieron Concannon tells us: "ROTD has given Nizlopi and FDM great support over the last couple of years. You were the ones who first helped put the JCB song and Nizlopi on people's radar, at a very early stage." Concannon adds that RotD supported is not about hype, but enthusiasm and results, saying: "RotD don't get bogged down in all that industry politics. They listen to music, they go to actual gigs, they tell people what they like. They're very much an "Exactly what it says on the tin" kind of team."

Result after RotD supported: UK no1 single
