New press and radio promotions company They Do PR launches
16 July 2018 - EditorialPress and Radio promotions agency They Do opens its doors today. The new company is a partnership between former inside/out publicist Dan Carson and ex-Warner Bros plugger Liv Whitton, and is based out of premises in East London.
Carson began his career in music as a writer and regular in NME from 2012 onwards before joining independent PR firm Brace Yourself in 2015. After two and a half years with the company, he left the position of Promotions Manager to join inside/out where he was appointed Senior Publicist in 2017, overseeing rising star Nilüfer Yanya's surge into the BBC Sound Of 2018 longlist. Carson brings with him a roster that includes Nilüfer Yanya, Atlantic's Matt Maltese, Domino signings Sorry, Glassnote duo IDER, and hotly-tipped Selhust band black midi.
Whitton started her radio career as an intern at XFM in 2012, eventually progressing to become a freelance producer. She joined Brace Yourself in 2014, then Yes Please in 2017, as a radio plugger and achieved playlist success working across a wide range of artists including Sunflower Bean, Gengahr, Benjamin Clementine, Blaenavon, The Strokes, Loyle Carner, Alvvays, Karen O, Pip Blom and more. Whilst at Warner Bros, Whitton led the charge on Muse, Ten Tonnes and the resurgent Johnny Marr, achieving multiple playlists throughout 2018.
Carson said: "Liv and I are truly delighted to be pooling our collective knowledge into one exciting new offering. Press and Radio are still the conversation starters and key cornerstones of all great campaigns - and that rings true for both emerging and established artists. We're so pleased to be able to offer our clients tailored services in both worlds right from the off."
Whitton added: "I'm extremely happy to be launching They Do alongside Dan and his amazing roster. We are both young, driven, passionate and already highly experienced in our respective roles. There's absolutely a gap in the market for a promotions team as hungry to break new artists as ourselves, and we're ready to step up to the plate and bring fresh ideas to music PR as a whole."
