Nadia Khan appointed as Chair of EarthPercent

EarthPercent, the charity which harnesses the power of the music industry to support the most impactful climate organisations around the world, has announced the appointment of Nadia Khan as its Chair.

Nadia Khan is the first externally appointed Chair to the organisation, which was co-founded EarthPercent by Brian Eno, Adam Callan and Hiroki Shirasuka in 2020.

Nadia Khan is the award-winning Founder of CTRL Music, a music development organisation for creators and professionals, and Women in CTRL, a movement working to dismantle barriers and create an inclusive industry where talent transcends gender. With over two decades of experience, Nadia has spearheaded independent label businesses, orchestrated chart-topping campaigns, and served as the elected Chair of AIM (The Association of Independent Music), the UK's independent music trade body.

She is also the author of the ‘Seat at the Table’ report, which explores the representation of women in leadership roles and boardrooms throughout the UK music industry. Now in its third year, the report’s impact has helped achieve the long-anticipated milestone of 50% gender representation in the industry’s boardrooms.

Nadia Khan, Chair of EarthPercent and Founder of CTRL Music, said: “I'm delighted to step into this role at EarthPercent and excited to contribute to an organisation that aligns with my vision for intersectional inclusivity and sustainability in the music industry. EarthPercent’s forward-thinking approach inspires me with its ability to harness the transformative power of music and drive meaningful change. I look forward to collaborating closely with the Board of Trustees, team, and partners to champion impactful climate action.”

Adam Callan, Co-Founder of EarthPercent, said: “We’re incredibly proud to announce that Nadia Khan has accepted the position of Chair of the Board of Trustees. Nadia brings with her an undeniable track record for driving positive change within the music industry and collaborating with the key stakeholders across the independent and major sectors. Moreover her proven success as a manager and entrepreneur make her an ideal addition to the team. As we approach Earth Month, it’s the perfect time to be super-charging EarthPercent with Nadia’s appointment!”

EarthPercent provides a simple way for artists and the music industry to support those at the forefront of climate justice working to reduce our impact on the planet. Artists and music industry organisations can pledge a small percentage of their income, which is as easy as crediting ‘Earth’ as a songwriter – an initiative already taken up by Brian Eno, Jacob Collier and Anna Calvi among others. EarthPercent then redistributes the funds to highly impactful environmental experts and climate justice areas.

For 2024, EarthPercent will be shining a spotlight on inspirational action taken by individuals in the music industry to help the planet throughout April, for ‘Earth Month’. From its biggest artist donors to its newest supporters, every day will be Earth Day as the charity shows just how much music is mobilising to protect the planet.
