Music Producers Guild announce new executive board members

Following a lengthy consultation period and ratification from the membership the MPG has announced the 3 new directors who will join Catherine Marks, Matt Taylor and Cameron Craig to form the new Executive Board. These are as follows:

Anu Pillai is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and DJ. He has provided music for leading brands such as Apple and Nokia as well as working with artists such as Alison Goldfrapp and Natalie Imbruglia.
"I’m delighted to be elected as a director of the MPG and continue the excellent work of the directors who are stepping down, Eve and Mika. I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running; advocating for producers rights wherever necessary and expanding our membership base as much as possible.”

Natalie Bibby recently took up the role of mastering engineer at AIR studios. She previously held the same position at Metropolis and has worked with a wide range of artists including Lewis Capaldi and The Vaccines.
“I am honoured to be elected as an Executive Director of the Music Producers Guild. I’m excited about representing the diverse needs of our audio production community. I will be prioritising my focus advocating for those from poorer and disadvantaged backgrounds. I will do this by looking into how can we can improve and equalise the audio production industry, right down to sixth form and university level. Additionally, I would like to raise awareness of accessibility within audio production workspaces and get us all thinking about how we can improve this for clients and budding engineers.”

Emma Townsend has been manager of Rak Studios since 2021. Before that she was Head of Studios at Metropolis and has also worked as studio manager at Strongroom.
"I’m keen to put practices in place to protect studio workers and ingrain staff welfare policies into the industry. From protecting from harassment to moving towards a better work/life balance for all studio workers. I know, for the most part, the industry is beginning to move past the ‘survival of the fittest’ mentality of former years, but I do believe there is much more to be done to promote welfare within our studios."

This is the first time a studio member will join the EB, Emma will be focusing on delivering the MPG’s Safer Studios initiative and working closely with CIISA to create a framework for better working conditions for the recording sector.

Matt Taylor commented: “We are confident that establishing such a skilled and varied board will both expand our membership base as well reinforce the MPG's commitment to promoting the interests of those employed in all areas of the music business. We would also like to warmly thank Eve Horne and Mika Sellens for their contributions over the past two years.”
