How do you go from selling cheesecakes to stoned students to getting a number 1 record?  How do you turn your decorating business into a music festival within 9 months? Or your mobile disco into the world’s biggest independent record label? Just what do all the jobs in the music industry involve, and how can you get one?

Music Made Me Do It is the new podcast series that unpacks these questions by speaking to the mavericks and trailblazers who felt compelled to start their own businesses and projects within the music industry, making it up as they went along, and resulting in enormous success.  What do these people have in common, if anything, and how on earth did they do it?

Hosted by Stuart Stubbs (founder of independent music magazine Loud And Quiet) and produced by Emma Snook (Beats 1, Partisan Records), Series 1 is made up of 10 weekly episodes, each with a different guest sharing how they turned their extreme passion into a world renowned career.

From Oscar-winning producer Paul Epworth (Adele, Paul McCartney, U2) to PR guru Barbara Charone (Madonna, Mark Ronson, Foo Fighters), to independent record label exec Martin Mills (Beggars Banquet), each guest has had a unique and inspiring journey into the world of music, between them including tales of flipping cars, fraud, comedy, abject failure, blind panic and unbridled joy in eventual success.
