Murray Stassen Appointed News Editor at Audience Media
03 July 2018 - Press releaseAudience Media, publisher of the leading business magazines for the UK and international live music industries – LIVE UK and Audience, respectively – has appointed Murray Stassen as News Editor across both titles, effective Friday 13 July.
Stassen has a broad music industry background and a good knowledge of how the live music business works, having been a deputy editor of Music Week and more recently editor of professional sound magazine Audio Media International.
As well as having been a freelance writer for Audience and LIVE UK, he has also written for VICE, music discovery platform The Line Of Best Fit and BASCA’s member magazine The Works.
Stassen replaced Neil Bracegirdle, who has left the company to train as a school teacher.
“The live music business is thriving and I’m looking forward to joining the Audience Media team to report on this exciting industry,” says Stassen.
“Neil is a tough act to follow, having delivered a stellar body of work during his two years there, but I will do my best to maintain his and the company’s high standard of journalism and push the boundaries yet further."
Publisher and managing editor Steve Parker adds, “It is a shame to lose Neil, but his experienced of working across more than 80 countries [with Audience] and dealing with everyone from concert promoters in Iceland, Oman and Chile to government ministers, MPs and institutions on home turf, have given him a breadth of experience that will hopefully flow to his soon-to-be young students.
“We have known and worked with Murray for a couple of years and highly value his writing and research skills, so he’s a perfect fit.”
