MTV RETURNS TO SCOTLAND WITH MTV LIVE LOCKDOWN GLASGOW

MTV UK, Glasgow City Marketing Bureau and EventScotland reignite partnership Example, Sigma and Slaves to perform

MTV UK, together with long time partners Glasgow City Marketing Bureau (GCMB) and EventScotland, today announced the return of MTV to Glasgow where it will treat music fans to MTV Live LockdownGlasgow on 30^th September, the second live music event to be produced in the city in less than a year.

Confirmed performers include English rapper and dance phenomenon, Example, two piece band, Slaves and chart topping British duo, Sigma.

The news builds on the success of the 2014 MTV EMAs and MTV Crashes held in Glasgow in 2010, and will be the first time MTV Live Lockdown has been produced outside of London.

MTV Live Lockdown Glasgow will feature its trademark selection of high profile artists delivering a unique performance in a coliseum style set, providing a 360 degree view for an intimate and exclusive audience of approximately 350 fans. 

The live event will be produced by JJ Stereo and filmed and broadcast as a 3 x 30-minute series set to air on 30^th October on MTV Music and MV Live HD.

Councillor Gordon Matheson, Leader of Glasgow City Council and Chair of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, said: “I am delighted to announce that following the fantastic MTV Europe Music Awards held in the city last November, we will be welcoming MTV back to Glasgow to host MTV Live Lockdown. The city’s relationship with MTV has continued to grow through MTV Crashes and the MTV EMA, and it will be fantastic to partner with them again.”

“This is the first time that the event has been held out with London which is testament to Glasgow’s position as one of the world’s leading music and major events destinations." 

Paul Bush, Director of Events at VisitScotland, said:  “It’s fantastic to welcome MTV to Scotland once more and hold the first production of MTV Live Lockdown outside of London.  MTV Live Lockdown forms part of a legacy from the 2014 MTV EMA which was also hosted here; further reinforcing Scotland’s reputation as the perfect stage for events”.

The first season of MTV Live Lockdown was held in London and featured big name acts including Fall Out Boy, Jess Glynne, Ella Eyre & Lawson. Ticketing and venue information for this autumn’s Glasgow event will all be announced in due course.
