MITRA DARAB NAMED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, MARKETING, CAPITOL MUSIC GROUP



Mitra Darab has been named Senior Vice President of Marketing for Capitol Music Group (CMG), it was announced today by the company's Executive Vice President, Greg Thompson, to whom Darab will report. In her new position Darab will head the "Vine" group within CMG that encompasses Marketing and Digital, and will directly liaise with the company's Promotion, Sales and Publicity teams in formulating comprehensive plans for CMG artists and releases. Artists under the purview of the Vine team include Sam Smith, Five Seconds Of Summer, Tori Kelly and The Dream. Darab is based in Hollywood, California in the company's iconic Capitol Records Tower.

 Thompson commented, "Everyone in the Tower is thrilled to welcome Mitra to the Capitol family.  She possesses incredible energy and enthusiasm as well as a wealth of experience to work with our incredible artist roster and our great executive team."

 According to Darab, "I've known Steve Barnett for nearly a decade, and I always hoped I'd get the opportunity to work with him. I am truly excited about joining him, Greg Thompson, Michelle Jubelirer and the entire Capitol team during such an exciting time for the company, and look forward to helping CMG continue its resurgence in the years ahead."

Darab is a 19-year music industry veteran, most recently serving as Vice President of Marketing at Warner Bros. Records for the past nine years. Among the many artists Darab has worked with and overseen projects for are Madonna and two of the artist's #1 debut albums, Confessions On A Dance Floor and Hard Candy; Michael Buble' and his four top-charting albums, Call Me IrresponsibleCrazy LoveChristmas (#1 for 5 consecutive weeks) and To Be Loved; Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, including that band's first ever #1 album,Hypnotic Eye; Cher and her Closer To The Truth album which entered the charts at a career-high #3. Darab has also worked closely with Regina Spektor and Atlas Genius. She joined Warner Bros. in 2000 as an A&R assistant, before moving to the Marketing department in 2002 and being promoted to Marketing Director in 2003.

Prior to her positions at Warner Bros., Darab was an A&R Scout at Geffen Records for two years, beginning in 1998. She began her career at Geffen in 1996 as an Executive Assistant /Advertising Coordinator in that company's Sales department.
