MIDƐM+23: the successful beginnings of a new generation MIDEM

This prequel and collaborative edition of the new MIDƐM+, held from January 19 to 21, 2023 in Cannes, assembled artists and the general public alongside with key players in the music industry gathered to work together on the future of the ecosystem

An edition worthy of its ambitions
Witness of a sector in deep mutation, the MIDEM, unavoidable meeting of the music industry since 1967, made its return in 2023 under a prequel form after three years of absence at the initiative of the City council of Cannes and the Palais des Festivals and Congresses. They relied on the expertise of the HOPSCOTCH* group, PANDA EVENTS* and PIANITY* to imagine a new MIDEM conceived by and for the professionals of the music, but also accessible to the general public. This edition lived up to their ambition by bringing together decision-makers representing the entire global music ecosystem and inviting those who make music to join the industry's first business club and think tank, and participate in an event that brings together music lovers.

The MuSee+, a community of professionals, definitely present

During this prefiguration starting its great return, this new generation MIDEM welcomed :

  • One hundred of the first members of the MuSee+ community: the MuSee+ are key representatives of the music industry, active members and stakeholders of the MIDƐM+ community, forming the first business club and think tank of the music industry, among which:

Ghazi (EMPIRE Records), Cécile Rap Véber (SACEM), Robb McDaniels (Beatport), Yoel Kenan (Africori), Dunn Nick (Horus Music), Laurence Oxenbury (PPL), Bertrand Burgalat (artist-ambassador, SNEP, IFPI), Alexander Wolf (SESAC), Sébastien Borget (Sandbox)…

  • Coming from 5 continents and 14 countries, including a large French participation, country of birth of Midem.
  • From 3 types of organizations: private companies (76%), professional organizations (21%), institutions (3%)
  • From all the music professions: media and audio services, digital service providers (including streaming), labels, publishers, live operators, services (to artists and labels, live...), rights managers, startups, an electronic brand, a research institute on creation, a school of management of creative industries and a mobility industrial.

2 days of immersion for high-level, ultra-quality exchanges
Carried by a new experiential and collaborative format, a place of convergence and gathering of the music, creative industries and Web3 communities, the MIDƐM+23 involved in a concrete way its members, the MuSee+.

For 2 days, they took part in exchange sessions, punctuated by concerts, showcases, talks, masterclasses, collaborative intelligence workshops, to collectively address the challenges of tomorrow's music, and to elaborate together the 2024 edition of the MIDƐM+: a collaborative event at the service of the industry, thought by and for those who compose it.

In the opinion of many participating members, these 2 days offered them a rare first time of high level quality dialogue and validated the interest of the MuSee+ community, which all decision makers of the music ecosystem can join.

Music accessible to all at the heart of an augmented festival
In addition to the BtoB meetings, the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes produced 7 concerts, 2 DJ sets, 1 showcase, all sold out: 10 moments of intense communion between artists, industry professionals and the general public, who vibrated in unison during the grandiose performances of Jean-Michel Jarre, Sofiane Pamart, Dorely, Fatboy Slim, Hyphen Hyphen, the Orchestre National de Cannes, Cerrone, Oceanus Orientalis or Mulabs & Moullinex feat. Lala Tamar & Maalem Khlaid Sansi Concert.

More than a trade show, beyond a music festival, this prefigurative edition of the MIDƐM+ has successfully tested the new model of this reference event, at the crossroads of all those who make and live the music.
