M1llionz is named as the UK’s next Artist On The Rise by YouTube Music

Today, YouTube Music announces Birmingham rapper M1llionz as the second Artist On The Rise in the UK for 2021.  M1llionz has gained a huge 15m views on his channel since launching in Feb 2020.  His growth on the platform has been significant, with 64k subscribers as of today and a myriad of brilliant videos on his channel.  Fans and media have heralded his dextrous flows and striking wordplays which set him apart from others, and his Birmingham colloquialisms give him unique character that the UK rap scene has praised.

Mixtape Madness first gave M1llionz a leg up via its dedicated YouTube channel where the video for BX19 initially blew up - from there, M1llionz dropped the video for Y Pree which was supported by GRM Daily.  His track North West created a moment that made very clear Birmginham’s position within the UK drill scene - he has arguably redefined the drill template, bending the rules to fit his distinct style and delivery.

In 2020, M1llionz went on to gain acclaim for his UKG leaning single B1llionz and LAGGA, then at the beginning of 2021 he released a video for Badnis, before dropping recent single How Many Times feat Lotto Ash.

Today he also announces a brand new single Bando Spot, produced by Jevon & Honeywoodsix.  The track is an ode to 50 Cent’s legendary hit track Candy Shop and a further testament to M1llionz’s skill and attention to detail. The track is fuelled with a hard-hitting beat that he rides effortlessly with gritty bars and a unique Birmingham lingo. The Teeezy C (BX19, B1llionz, LAGGA) directed visual mirrors some of the most iconic scenes from the original Candy Shop video.

M1llionz took to social media last night to announce his long-awaited debut project ‘Provisional Licence’, set for release this summer. The debut is an invitation into the true extent of M1llionz’s pen, which thus far has earned him a stamp of approval across the UK. Distinctive style and dynamic flows flourish across what is guaranteed to be an impressive first full body of work, redefining the UK drill template through dextrous flows and striking wordplay.

On becoming the next YouTube Music On The Rise artist in the UK, M1llionz said: “I’m really grateful to receive the YouTube Artist On The Rise. I’ve been working hard over the last two years and the best is yet to come. I appreciate this and I’m looking forward to sharing my journey with the world as this is only the beginning.”

Sheniece Charway, Artist Relations Manager at YouTube Music said: “M1llionz is one of the hottest rappers in the UK (right now). Hailing from Birmingham, he has made a huge impact on the UK scene and we are so excited to continue to support him and help him continue to grow his audience on YouTube and make him a global star. He is definitely an artist that we will be talking about in years to come”

Managing Director of Virgin Music UK, Vanessa Higgins said: “With his unique voice, distinctive lyricism and skippy word play it’s no surprise that M1llionz is on the rise. The way M1llionz uses his YouTube channel to directly engage with his fans is one of the many reasons we love working with him, and it also sets him apart from the rest of the scene. Here at Virgin we can’t wait to see where being YouTube’s Artist on the Rise takes him, because M1llionz is the real deal.”

YouTube Music is proud to support M1llionz at the beginning of his career.
