Living Indie Launches Crowdfunding Campaign: Urges Music Fans to Help ‘God Save The Stream’

Launching on March 6, crowdfunding campaign looking to raise £150,000 via CrowdCube platform to help Living Indie become Netflix of Live Concerts

Living Indie, a Wayra-backed live-streaming startup, is launching its first crowdfunding campaign on March 6. Called God Save The Stream, the campaign will invite both small-scale and professional investors to take part as the company attempts to raise £150,000 on UK equity-crowdfunding platform CrowdCube.

The campaign will last eight weeks and will include a series of concerts that showcase Living Indie’s live-streaming technology and social platform, while generating greater interest and momentum in the campaign. Being run on CrowdCube, the campaign will allow people to invest as little as £5 all the way up to tens of thousands. The £150,000 represents a 10% stake in the company, and shareholders who invest more than £5,000 will receive voting rights (or “A shares”).

Living Indie has been operating in the UK for a little over a year. Since being accepted to Wayra, the technology accelerator attached to Telefonica, in early 2014, the company has streamed concerts from the likes of John Grant, Nile Rodgers and Ben Watt, and worked with brands including O2, Sony and Jagermeister. In the process, it has generated hundreds of thousands of concert views, and a community of well over 10,000 subscribers.

After a free sign-up, the platform offers fans the chance to see concerts streamed live or from the company’s fast-growing VOD archive. The concerts can be watched in HD via any connected devices, from movie screens to mobiles, and the platform also provides a rich social experience, with fans able to interact with fellow music lovers from around the world.

“Fans really are the lifeblood of Living Indie. The level of devotion you get among music fans in general, and the support we’ve had in particular, are a wonder to behold,” said Andres Sanchez, Living Indie’s MD and founder. “That’s why crowdfunding really makes sense for us. While we’re of course looking to involve more seasoned investors looking for an exciting opportunity in the music industry, we’re equally keen that our fans and followers should get the opportunity to help shape what we’re doing as well. With their help, we really do want to build the Netflix of Live Concerts.”
