Publisher To Administer Five Time Grammy-Winning Jazz Legend's Music Catalog
Kobalt today announced a global publishing deal with the late renowned jazz pianist, McCoy Tyner. The agreement includes administration and synch services for Mr. Tyner's entire catalog.
"McCoy Tyner was a jazz powerhouse with a sound that inspired and influenced many other musicians," said executive vice president, business development, Merril Wasserman. "It is an honor to represent his catalog and carry out his legacy with his great estate."
"Over his six decade career, McCoy Tyner composed one of the most influential and diverse music catalogs in jazz history, and we are pleased to entrust the administration of his revered repertoire with the innovative team at Kobalt Music," said Scott Austin, chief operating officer, ALG Brands, and managers of the McCoy Tyner estate.

"Kobalt's experience in the field of music publishing administration, as well as an openness to all forms of music will help in the preservation of McCoy Tyner music for generations to come."
McCoy Tyner is one of the most respected improvisational jazz musicians and bandleaders in history. In 1960 and at just 21 years of age, he joined saxophonist John Coltrane as a member of The John Coltrane Quartet, performing on numerous classics including "My Favorite Things," "A Love Supreme," and more. Throughout his career, Tyner worked alongside luminaries including Quincy Jones, George Benson, Carlos Santana, Stanley Clarke and many others, and he recorded and released nearly 80 albums as a featured artist, bandleader or musician.
Critically lauded and commercially successful on a global scale, McCoy Tyner has been the recipient of five Grammy Awards and a host of other honors in recognition of his talent and innovation.
