Karma Artists, the London-based independent music company, is celebrating a number of successful creative projects alongside a slate of future activities, which will see it further engage with the fast-growing Asian music market.
The company, which was launched in 2012 by former Universal Music Group A&R executive Jordan Jay, focuses on developing long-term, impactful relationships between writers, producers, and global stars, has talent management, music publishing and consultancy divisions, and continues to cultivate a growing network of commercial and creative relationships across the K-pop sector.
Karma Artists’ stable of high-profile writers and producers who include Red Triangle, Cutfather, PhD, James Reynolds, Benji, Jez Ashurst and Jimbo Barry among others, are increasingly focusing on the South Korean and wider Asian market, working closely with some of the biggest names in K-pop, including Aespa, EXO, NCT, Riize, Shinee, Heart2 Heart, Twice, Fifty Fifty, WayV, Nayeon, Taeyon,Taemin, and BTS.
The company is also in discussion with a number of partners including UK trade bodies and various government agencies to host an annual writing camp, which will see South Korean artists/songwriters/producers visit the UK to collaborate with their counterparts on the Karma Artists roster.
It is hoped that these creative collaborations will add to the success it has already enjoyed in the South Korean market, which has seen number of existing projects crossing over to the US and achieving significant chart impact.
Jordan Jay, founder and CEO of Karma Artists said, “The explosion of K-pop is unprecedented, and while the UK has struggled to break new pop artists, our focus has been on building relationships in Asia, with several trips there in the past three years or so. This has given our writers and producers an extraordinary opportunity to capitalize on a thriving market. Through our planned writing camps and cultural exchanges, which will take place with the support of UK trade bodies and government trade agencies, we will continue to forge strong links with this exciting and dynamic market.”
Karma Artists has helped deliver major global hits, with numerous tracks from artists including Twice, BTS, Riize, Aespa, EXO, NCT127, Seventeen, Fifty Fifty, Key and LE SSERAFIM achieving widespread recognition and commercial success.
The company's unique strategy has seen it nurture strong, long-term connections in Asia, enabling them to play a pivotal role in the K-pop phenomenon. It continues to develop commercial and creative relationships in China and joined a recent BPI trade mission there. A number of songwriters from the Karma Artists roster have also taken part in writing camps in Seoul, Singapore, The Philippines, Thailand and Hong Kong, working with artists such as Moon Tang, A20, SB19, Lola Amour, Olivia Marsh, U-Know, Youngha and Lee Young Ji.
