Ivor Novello Winner Jamie Scott & Manager Rick Wilson Launch Writers, a Bold New Hub for Songwriting Talent

Writers launches today as a dynamic new home for songwriters and music creators. Founded by multi-award-winning songwriter, producer and artist Jamie Scott, and his longtime manager and business partner Rick Wilson, the company arrives with a fresh identity and a bold vision for the future of music publishing. This follows over a decade of successful collaboration through their previous company, Catherine Songs, where they successfully developed top-tier talent.

With over 20 years in the music industry, Jamie Scott is an Ivor Novello-winning and Grammy-nominated songwriter whose global impact includes the sale of over 100 million albums and singles. He has co-written hits for and with Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, One Direction, Calvin Harris, Rag'N'Bone Man, David Guetta, and many more. As the principal songwriter for One Direction, he penned over 30 released tracks, contributing to the band's meteoric rise. In the UK alone, his work has appeared on 31 Top 10 Albums and 9 Top 10 Singles - including 14 No.1 Albums and 3 No.1 Singles.

Following their success with Catherine Songs on collaborations including 'This Town' by Niall Horan, 'Little Bit Of Love' by Tom Grennan (written by Mike Needle and Dan Bryer), 'Breaking Me' by Topic and A7S, and 'Control' by Zoe Wees written by René Miller, Scott and Wilson now embark on a new, community-driven venture. Writers launches with strong backing, strategic partnerships, and a commitment to building a future-facing creative hub that champions career longevity and forging meaningful collaborations across the industry. Jamie and Rick will be continuing their longstanding relationship with David Ventura, Tim Major, Felix Canetty-Clarke, and the rest of the Sony Music Publishing team.

In addition to Jamie Scott, the Writers roster already boasts a diverse mix of acclaimed and emerging talent:

  • Mike Needle – A close collaborator of Tom Grennan, Mike has co-written hit singles with Calvin Harris, Joel Corry, and many others.

  • Dan Bryer – Known for his work with One Direction, Niall Horan, and Rag'n'Bone Man, Dan also collaborates with indie favourites like Kawala and Sea Girls.

  • René Miller – The prolific German songwriter is behind international hits with Topic and Zoe Wees, as well as major radio success with Loi (including three Top 5 singles). He continues to write with leading names in electronic and dance music such as Alok, Steve Aoki, Timmy Trumpet, Cheat Codes, LUM!X, Twocolors, and Niklas Dee.

  • Jack Britten (Jack Dean) – Writer and artist with recent cuts for Caity Baser and Only The Poets, Jack is currently releasing a new EP via Electric Feel Records (US). His latest single 'Church In The Morning' has received strong support from Radio 1.

  • Itamar Lapidot – The newest signing to Writers, Itamar already has co-writes with Joel Corry and five tracks released with rising band bby (signed to Glassnote Records).

  • Michael Hemmings – A go-to writer for indie artists including Lucy Blue, Edie Bens, and Dolores Forever.

  • Stars – A multi-instrumentalist, artist, songwriter and producer, Stars' debut single 'If I Could' released independently last month is generating a lot of buzz.

Music Publishing Co-Founders Jamie Scott and Rick Wilson commented: "We have spent years building careers for gifted songwriters, and this new venture is the natural next step in that journey. At Writers Music Publishing, we're building a true creative community - somewhere songwriters belong, feel heard, and have a real voice in their future. Our goal is to champion great talent, foster collaboration and trust, and provide the ongoing support writers need to reach new heights and shape the next generation of songwriting."

David Ventura, President & Co-Managing Director UK added: "We're incredibly proud of the 14-year relationship we've shared with Jamie, Rick, and the exceptional roster they've built. I'm excited to see them take this next step with Writers and to continue the great work we've all been doing together. All of us at Sony are looking forward to what's ahead."

Writers also forms part of a broader vision that includes copyright acquisition, with immediate plans to establish a London headquarters - complete with state-of-the-art studios and dedicated A&R offices - to serve as a creative hub for both established and emerging talent.
