Industry veteran Ronnie Gurr joins Naked – the world’s 1st eco-friendly record club

NAKED S.A.R.L(NAKED Société à Responsabilité Limitée), the French parent company of NAKED Record Club, today announces the appointment of Ronnie Gurr as a Non-Executive Director.

Music industry veteran Gurr, who begins work with immediate effect, will advise on artist and label relationships and will work with the founders of NAKED to offer guidance and counsel on the company’s ongoing and future strategic business planning.

NAKED Record Club, hailed as “the World’s first eco-friendly record club”, was born from a passion for indie music and a desire to release exceptional records without harming the planet. By partnering with leading innovators in green vinyl technology, NAKED Record Club is proving that records can be made sustainably without compromising sound quality.

Gurr will support NAKED’s ambitious growth plans and expand the community of indie artists and record labels partnering with NAKED to release limited edition eco-friendly records.

Speaking of the new appointment, Co-Founder of NAKED Record Club Simon Parker said: “Ronnie Gurr was the man who brought Microdisney to Virgin Records, so he’s a living legend in my mind. To be able to work with him at NAKED Record Club is both an honour and an education.”

Rachel Lowe, NAKED Co-Founder said: “Being the first to do anything always comes with risk but the positive response to NAKED has exceeded all expectations. There can no longer be any doubt that environmental sustainability is important to record buyers right across the globe. We are thrilled that Ronnie has joined us to help us turn our ambitious plans into reality.”

Ronnie Gurr said: “As I’m now a grandfather, it’s incumbent on everyone - my generation included - to play our part in addressing the climate emergency, and to do it now. NAKED’s vision, mission and values perfectly align with my own and I’m delighted to be on board. NAKED are perfectly placed to help the record labels that signed the 2021 Music Climate Pact keep their commitments to that pact and to work with and advise them on making a staggered and manageable transition from traditional to sustainable record manufacturing.”
