GARY GORMAN NAMED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, ALTERNATIVE PROMOTION, CAPITOL MUSIC GROUP



Gary Gorman has been named Senior Vice President, Alternative Promotion, for Capitol Music Group (CMG), it was announced today by the company's Executive Vice President, Greg Thompson.  In his new position, Gorman will oversee all Alternative Promotion efforts for CMG's portfolio of labels, including Capitol, Virgin, Harvest and Astralwerks. Gorman will report to CMG's Head of Promotion Dennis Reese, and be based in Hollywood at the iconic Capitol Tower.

 According to Greg Thompson, "Gary is a highly respected and experienced promotion executive, known industry-wide and within the artist community for his passion, drive and ability to get results. He is a great addition to our team and I welcome him wholeheartedly to the CMG family."

Gorman commented, "I am so thrilled to be given the opportunity to join the CMG family and contribute to the company's ongoing and amazing resurgence. Steve Barnett has built a spectacular team here, and a culture of artist development that permeates every facet of the company. Prior to joining CMG, Gorman was Vice President of Alternative Promotion for Atlantic Records, having worked with a diverse array of artists that included alt-J, Fitz & The Tantrums, Vance Joy, Coldplay, Shinedown, Grouplove and Death Cab For Cutie and countless others. He began his career at seminal 1990s recording studio Fort Apache in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he handled various label and artist management promotional duties. He joined Atlantic in 1998 as a College and Metal promotion rep, eventually moving in to regional positions in Pittsburgh and New York. Gorman was elevated to Senior Director of National Alternative and Rock in 2006, relocating to Los Angeles.
