Full Time Hobby signs Dead Pioneers under Bucks sponsorship deal

Band signed to Full Time Hobby sister Hassle Records last year.

Full Time Hobby has signed Dead Pioneers to its publishing roster under its sponsorship agreement with Bucks Music Group.

The agreement between Full Time Hobby and Bucks Music Group means that Bucks provides upfront investment, exclusive creative sync services and back-end administration for Full Time Hobby's publishing operation, as well as ongoing support, advice and expertise.

Dead Pioneers emerged as a dynamic extension of vocalist Gregg Deal's performance art, blending music with critical cultural commentary, harnessing the raw energy of punk and alternative influences to challenge prevailing narratives.

The band is completed by Josh Rivera and Abe Brennan on guitars, bassist Lee Tesche (Algiers) and drummer Shane Zweygardt. They signed a record deal with Full Time Hobby's sister, alternative rock imprint, Hassle Records in April 2024.

Following the deal, Hassle reissued the band's debut album and saw it sell out immediately, with it now being on its sixth repress.

Monthly streaming figures have increased five-fold in the last 12 months, and the band released their second album, PO$T AMERICAN, earlier this year.

On the live circuit, Dead Pioneers recently played with Pearl Jam in the States and are about to embark on a debut European run on the Reconstruction Tour, which sees the band supporting in 1,500 – 4,000 capacity venues.

The band is currently booking shows across the globe into and throughout next year, with a third record to come towards the end of 2026.

Full Time Hobby Co-Owner, Wez said: "We signed Dead Pioneers for records last April on the back of hearing what we thought was excellent music and a compelling and very relevant back story in today's troubled times. Our basis for signing acts is always based on how we feel about their music, and them generally as people. Then we get to work amplifying the music and message. Dead Pioneers are going from strength-to-strength now, both as a recording and performing band. It's great to now be able to contribute to their publishing as well, alongside a great partner in Bucks."

Bucks' Director A&R Sarah Liversedge Platz said: "Gregg's ability to communicate the Indigenous experience and challenge the legacies of colonisation and systemic marginalisation is really moving. And, with the energy of the band behind him, the music that Dead Pioneers continue to create is unique, exciting and important. We're really pleased to be able to play our part in supporting their work and continued rise."

Bucks' catalogue includes works written by David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Procol Harum, DJ Fresh, James Blunt, Professor Green, Rudimental, Beyonce, CAN, Pete Doherty, Roni Size & Reprazent, David Arnold, Guy Chambers, Sacha Skarbek, Troy Miller, Seton Daunt, Ash Howes, James Dring, Erol Alkan, Little Barrie, Nadine Shah, Manpower, Erland Cooper, CATTY, Emma Blackery, The Heavytrackerz, Brooke Bentham, Molly Payton, Johnny Madden, Joshua Epithet, Rosbeh, Clavis7even, Murdo Mitchell and more.
