Essential Sign Week Of Wonders
04 April 2013- Dalston-based label fostering exciting new acts Stevie Neale and Sega Bodega
- Global deal covers full label product management
- First release out this week – Sega Bodega’s “34” EP
April 4th, London: London-based artist management company and independent record label Week Of Wonders (WoW) has inked a global product management deal with Essential Music & Marketing. The agreement, which begins with immediate effect, covers worldwide manufacture, marketing, physical and digital distribution, sync and licensing of all future WoW releases.
The relationship has begun in earnest, with Essential handling the release this week of “34”, the new EP from enigmatic new talent Salvador Navarrete aka Sega Bodega. He has spent the last few months establishing his reputation with remixes for Lana Del Rey and Jakwob, gaining widespread blog support, spins on BBC Radio 1 and festival appearances including Field Day.
WoW is also overseeing the development of self-produced RnB songstress Stevie Neale, who is hotly tipped by tastemakers including Toddla T. Neale, WoW’s first artist signing, performed at BBC Radio 1’s Hackney Weekend and released her first single ‘Dangerous’ last November with The Fly and Fader reviewing it favourably. She will be appearing at The Great Escape in May and releasing her debut EP not long after.
Week Of Wonders was set up in August 2011 by Karen Tillotson, who cut her teeth with a seven year tenure at Simon Fuller’s 19 Entertainment before moving to Oli Isaacs’ This Is Music, where she helped take Little Boots’ debut album, Hands, to Gold sales.
Alongside Stevie Neale and Sega Bodega the WoW line-up also includes ethereal indie duo G R E A T W A V E S and laid-back indie five-piece Gentlemen. WoW will be presenting a stage at Land of Kings festival in Dalston on May 5th, featuring everyone on the roster.
Product Manager at Essential, Steve Crane, said: “It's exciting to be working with Karen and WoW. The roster is incredible and the music coming through will blow people away. It's a great fit for Essential and hopefully the start of another long and successful working relationship with a dynamic and forward-thinking artist management company and label”
Added Karen Tillotson “For us, it's all about believing in someone, having a vision and sticking with them until they break – and knowing that they will. It's time well-spent building up a fan base rather than getting an elusive deal with a major and thinking you've made it when you haven't. Our deal with Essential lets us continue along that path.”
