SHAKE THE HIGH ROAD – East London's vibrant new music festival - will take place on Saturday October 13th across three of Leytonstone's top music venues as all-day revelry returns to E11 within London's first Borough of Culture, Waltham Forest.
Fulfilling those end-of-festival-season cravings but with none of the uncomfy wellies, gruesome loos and long treks, SHAKE THE HIGH ROAD venues - The Red Lion, Luna Lounge and Leytonstone Ex-Servicemen's Club - are within one-minute walk from each other and will host music and fringe activities all day, into the wee hours (full line-up below*).
Musical talent so far includes over 30 live acts and DJs - including snooker legend Steve Davis & Kavus Torabi (DJ Set), London Astrobeat Orchestra, Black Peaches, Jack Cooper, Psychic Markers, Average Joe, and Fröst – plus your SHAKE THE HIGH ROAD ticket gives you access to Big Fish Little Fish's family-friendly rave, and a special Pizza Party hosted by STHR official food partner Yard Sale Pizza. There's even space on the bill for the Leyton-Stones, a unique tribute to Mick Jagger and co with an East London twist.
And if you're having a break from boogieing with a beer, there's a pop-up record fair and The East London Writers Club, featuring a panel of local writers hosted by John Rogers, author of 'The Other London'.
Simon Singleton, SHAKE THE HIGH ROAD organiser and Leytonstone resident, says: "I can't wait to bring SHAKE THE HIGH ROAD back on Saturday October 13th. The line-up is eclectic and full of life - like Leytonstone's residents - and there's something for everyone with a mix of known and emerging musical talent, plus the family rave, writers club, and other fringe activities I've added to the bill. And I'm really excited about our one-off Hitchcock event with a brand new score – it's going to be a magic moment.
"I'll be adding more to the schedule over the coming weeks, so be sure to nab a ticket to our E11 one-dayer as we show more reasons why Waltham Forest has been selected as London's first Borough of Culture."
