E2 Music signs admin agreement with Sentric

E2 Music Publishing has signed an exclusive administration and collection deal with Sentric Music Group.

Founded in 2018, E2 Music is the publishing off-shoot of Edition Records, a jazz record label that, over the last 12 years, has been a creative force in identifying global artists with an uncompromising vision and world-class musicianship.

With E2 Music Publishing, Edition Records’ founder and musician Dave Stapleton has the ambition to develop Edition into a 21st century, global music company intent on supporting a progressive and creative artist roster able to develop, impact and thrive in the digital age.

Stapleton said: “For decades, jazz has been an art form that has been widely misunderstood as a genre. Its breadth and eclecticism has been hard to describe or categorise, limiting opportunities to reach wider audiences outside the music. As a result, many musicians have been under-valued and, consequently, their careers have halted, with marketing neglected when it comes to developing new audiences.

“In recent years, there’s been a huge surge of interest in jazz, particularly where it collides with other genres and styles. E2 Music’s primary purpose is to capitalise on that interest and bridge the gap between creative talent and commercial opportunities. It is the start of a new chapter for Edition as a music business. One where we can develop more opportunities for our artists, build robust careers with multiple revenue streams and gain more exposure to global audiences.”

Existing writers signed to E2 Music include British producer and multi-instrumentalist Chris Hyson; lauded British guitarist and composer Rob Luft; Dave Stapleton’s own solo work, as well as Slowly Rolling Camera with co-writers Deri Roberts and Elliot Bennett; Snowpoet co-songwriting team Chris Hyson and Lauren Kinsella; Norwegian composer Eyolf Dale; Finnish drummer and composer Olavi Louhivuori; Berlin-based Swedish bassist and producer Petter Eldh; Scottish wunderkind/pianist Fergus McCreadie; ex-cinematic orchestra guitarist Stuart McCallum; and Norwegian composer Daniel Herskedal.

Over the course of 2020 and beyond, E2 is actively seeking new writers with a strong and eclectic sonic identity that sits within the jazz, cinematic and electronic music genres.

Sentric Music Group Creative Director Peter McCamley said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Dave and the Edition team, building on the success of its writers and adding value with our collection network and resources. E2 is an exciting catalogue, and we see a massive window of potential to enrich its pool of jazz talent further with creative opportunities.”

Founded in 2006, Sentric Music Group has grown rapidly to become a global, award-winning independent publisher. Based in Liverpool and with offices in London, Hamburg, New York and Los Angeles, it boasts an international infrastructure including direct royalty collection with over 120 global territories. Today, it represents more than a million works.

2018 saw Sentric ink major strategic deals with respected brands IQ Music, Black Rock Publishing and Riptide Music Group, as well as launching its white label publishing platform RightsApp to establish Sentric Music Group.
