Downtown Music Services, which offers bespoke distribution, publishing administration, creative marketing and finance solutions to entrepreneurial creators and their partners, has announced a global music publishing administration agreement with Brooklyn-based artist, composer and producer Daniel Lopatin.

Lopatin who records and performs as Oneohtrix Point Never has released numerous critically acclaimed albums including his most recent project, Magic Oneohtrix Point Never, a culmination of his recorded work over the past decade.

He has been lauded for his production work with The Weeknd, which saw him credited as executive producer on the recent worldwide #1 album, Dawn FM, a record on which he performed on most of the tracks.  He was also the Musical Director on The Weeknd’s 2021 Super Bowl Half-Time performance. In March 2022, it was announced that Lopatin produced the upcoming, full-length album, Sometimes, Forever, for Soccer Mommy, his first full album production for another artist.

Mike Smith, Global President of Downtown Music Services said, “I have been consistently floored by Daniel’s talent since I first heard Oneohtrix Point Never back in 2015.   I swiftly fell down the rabbit hole of his work and was stunned by his film scores as well as his electronic work.   He has an uncanny ability to work with a broad range of artists and create something unique.  Whether it be Iggy Pop, FKA Twigs, The Safdie Brothers or The Weeknd the results are always spectacular and I am so excited to be on this journey with him.”

As well as Soccer Mommy and The Weeknd, his extensive production credits include David Byrne, Moses Sumney, Anohni and Charli XCX and he has also collaborated on recordings with numerous artists such as Iggy Pop, Rosalía, James Blake, and Elizabeth Fraser amongst others. Most recently he has composed and performed the music for Chanel’s 2021 Metier D’Arts show.

His original film scores include Josh and Benny Safdie’s Uncut Gems (2019) and Good Time (2017) for which he received the Best Soundtrack Award at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival and Ariel Kleiman’s Partisan (2015). Other film work includes contributions to Rick Alverson’s The Mountain (2019) and Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring (2013).

Oneohtrix Point Never is also known for his live multimedia performances, in 2018 he staged MYRIAD over three nights at New York's Park Avenue Armory. Centered around the album Age Of, the season was followed by sold-out performances at prestigious venues worldwide including both The Barbican and The Roundhouse in London and Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.

Lopatin has also been commissioned and exhibited extensively by Greene Naftali (2021), Sadie Coles HQ, London (2019), The Park Avenue Armory, New York (2018), Frieze Projects New York (2017); Hammer Museum, Los Angeles (2016); Holland Festival (2014); Tate Britain, London and MoMA PS1, New York (both 2013); Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, D.C., and Saatchi & Saatchi, London (both 2012); and The Museum of Modern Art, New York (2011) among others.

Corey Roberts SVP A&R of Downtown Music Services said, “Daniel personifies the contemporary avant garde artist.  When the opportunity presented itself to join in his career, we did everything we had to to make sure Daniel understood Downtown was the only place for him. I'm ecstatic that Dan has chosen Downtown as his home."

Daniel Lopatin said, “I couldn't be more thrilled to join forces with Downtown. The kinship I have with the team, paired with Downtown’s ambitious plans is inspiring.”
