DIY Partners with Marshall to host Big Bank Holiday Weekender - first live music of 2021

Music marketing and media company DIY Music has secured the sponsorship of iconic music equipment manufacturer Marshall to support one of their first live music events - as organised by DIY Magazine - as we come out of lockdown.

The event, billed as The Big Bank Holiday Weekender 2021, takes place on the Saturday and Sunday over the 29/30th May bank holiday weekend, with 13 bands performing live over two days at the Studio 9291 venue in Hackney Wick, London.

Although the event will boast indoor performances for the first time - following the relaxation of COVID rules from 17th May - it has been organised with strict guidelines in mind, to ensure the safety and comfort of both fans and artists.

The line-up will focus on emerging artists, whose lives and careers have been badly affected by the pandemic and will give them a chance to make their first live appearances in 18 months.

Artists performing include The Orielles, Do Nothing, Connie Constance and a former DIY cover star, who will be announced as a secret headliner ahead of the event.

STEVE TANNETT, DIRECTOR OF MARSHALL RECORDS, COMMENTS:

“Marshall are delighted to be supporting the return of live music with The DIY Big Bank Holiday Weekender. Since our early days in the 60’s we’ve helped to bring together musicians and fans by providing the gear needed to put on stellar live performances. After a difficult period for everyone involved in music, we can’t wait to kickstart the live scene once again and support upcoming artists.”

RUPERT VEREKER, CEO OF DIY MUSIC & PUBLISHER OF DIY MAGAZINE, COMMENTS:

”Over the pandemic we have supported emerging artists with virtual events like our DIYsolation Instagram Live series, and most recently by being exclusive media partner to The British Music Embassy at SXSW Online, as well as having a week-long live event last September to celebrate our 100th edition, with Signature Brew. We have been so aware of the importance of live music returning for both artists and fans that we wanted to be back into live performances as soon as restrictions allowed. Plus, there could not be a better sponsor for this event, as Marshall has experienced so many of the same frustrations as the artists it supports on the live stage.”

Tickets for DIY 's Big Bank Holiday Weekender go on sale 10am Friday 7th May via DICE.
