DistroKid Acquires Bandzoogle, Offering DistroKid Members Access to Best-In-Class Website and E-commerce Tools

DistroKid, the world’s largest distributor of independent music, announced today that it has acquired Bandzoogle, whose powerful tools enable artists to easily create websites and sell their music directly to their fans. In addition to building thousands of websites for artists, Bandzoogle has powered more than $100 Million in commission-free, direct-to-fan sales on behalf of independent artists since the company's inception.

“At DistroKid, we’re always working on innovative ways to help artists.” said Philip Kaplan, Founder and CEO of DistroKid. “Bandzoogle has built incredible tools that make it super easy for every artist to set up an impactful public website & e-commerce store.”

Bandzoogle CEO Stacey Bedford, a 15+ year veteran of the company, commented: "After 20 years of helping artists build effective websites and sell over $100M in commission-free music, merch, and tickets, this is an exciting new chapter for Bandzoogle. DistroKid has always put artists first, just like we have, so we’re thrilled to join forces to continue to empower artists."

Founded in 2003, Bandzoogle powers more than 60,000 websites and online stores for artists all over the world. Bandzoogle offers its services for a low monthly fee and never takes a commission on sales or any other artist revenue.

DistroKid has recently introduced several innovations to its platform. Earlier this year, the company introduced its first-ever iPhone app. Additionally, the company recently unveiled Mixea, an AI-powered intelligent mastering tool that helps artists instantly make their music “radio ready.”

Late last year, DistroKid launched DistroVid, a service that enables users to upload music videos to Apple Music, Tidal and Vevo. DistroKid was the first music distributor to offer this kind of deal to artists–unlimited full length music video uploads for one low price.

With the Bandzoogle acquisition, artists will now be able to power digital, physical and on-demand merch & music sales seamlessly–all within the DistroKid ecosystem.
