Dellessa James (ex BBC/Apple Music) to lead black music strategy at Amazon Music UK as senior artist



Music and media executive Dellessa James is due to join Amazon Music UK in September as their new Senior Artist Relations Manager . This new role at Amazon Music will see Dellessa lead their Black music strategy , overseeing Playlists, creative direction and executing large scale campaigns for artists and labels.
 
Dellessa was previously the Executive Producer of The Rap Show and Fire in the Booth , the biggest freestyle platform in Europe. She worked alongside DJ Charlie Sloth delivering weekly original audio and video content to Apple Music . She produced legendary freestyles with artists like Drake , Stormzy , Megan Thee Stallion , Wretch 32 , Lil Baby and the Fire in the Booth Cypher that trended across the world back in 2014.
 
In 2018 Dellessa left her role as a Producer at BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra to join Apple Music. During her 16-year career at the BBC (which included working at BBC local radio) Dellessa was on the Playlist team and produced shows for Trevor Nelson, Annie Mac, DJ Target, Nihal, MistaJam, Jo Whiley, Fabio and Grooverider, championing Black music genres.
 
Dellessa attended Bedfordshire University, graduating with a First-Class B.A (Hons) in Media Production with Radio. She is also qualified to teach and was previously a Visiting Lecturer at Birmingham City University teaching Radio Production skills. She has also run her own Media Consultancy company, training, managing, and developing new UK artists.
