Deezer appoints Tarek Mounir as CEO of MENA



- New regional CEO brings a wealth of media and entertainment experience and a successful track record of growing business in the region

- Tarek will be instrumental in building and leading Deezer’s MENA team to grow the user base in key markets

Deezer, the global music streaming service, is proud to announce that Tarek Mounir is joining the company on 1 April as CEO for theMENAand Turkey region.

Tarek will be responsible for growing Deezer’s B2B and advertising business in the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey, working closely with the company’s global product, marketing and content teams to bring the company’s local strategy to life.

Tarek joins Deezer from Turner, an international broadcast media company, where he spent over eight years successfully growing the business in MENA, Turkey, Greece & Cyprus. Tarek was instrumental in developing relationships with Telcos and other commercial partners, as well as building a Free To Air Ad Sales business in a challenging and competitive landscape.

Tarek is also an entertainment veteran. Prior to his time at Turner, he produced commercials and long form animation; as well as served as a TV presenter for shows including Survivor, Middle East.  

Following a successful launch in the MENAregion in October 2018, Deezer will open an office in Dubai in Q1 2019 to serve as a hub for its work in the region. The company is in the process of recruiting a number of local employees in various marketing, communication and business development roles and already has team members in place to manage industry relations and local editorial content.
