Cyanite and ON AIR strengthen partnership to deliver AI-driven insights for playlist curation in MusicMaster Scheduling
03 July 2025 - Press releaseTo redefine music programming for broadcasters and audio platforms, ON AIR has integrated Cyanite's industry-leading AI music tagging into the familiar MusicMaster Scheduling environment. This collaboration unlocks entirely new, data-driven pathways for playlist curation, helping radio stations and content creators craft smarter, emotionally resonant listening experiences.
The integration leverages the VERTEX.FRAMEWORK provided by ON AIR, MusicMaster's international distributor. Through VERTEX broadcasters can enrich their music databases with deep, structured metadata from Cyanite's AI music tagging - including emotional profiles, mood dynamics, tempo, BPM and key detection.
"We believe that combining highly specialized metadata with human intuition contributes to smarter programming decisions", says Kevin John Hopkins, COO & CTO at ON AIR. "In a media world defined by immediacy, emotional intelligence, and data-driven strategy, VERTEX acts as the connective tissue between creativity, AI, and adaptable technology - without barriers, vendor lock-in, or outdated infrastructures."
"At Cyanite, we've always been driven by one guiding question: How can we help recommend the right music at the right time? We call this a music moment: That powerful connection between sound and context. This collaboration with ON AIR brings that vision directly into radio and broadcast scheduling. It's a perfect fit. Our AI-powered tagging provides the emotional intelligence, and ON AIR's infrastructure ensures it's delivered where it matters most: on air, in real time", says Markus Schwarzer, CEO at Cyanite.
Joint customers such as the Vienna-based media company MAXFIVE who soundtrack - among others - every branch of German supermarket giants REWE and PENNY, belong to the first to take advantage of this innovative partnership. MAXFIVE's adoption of Cyanite x VERTEX strongly signals where broadcast programming is headed: "Using Cyanite marks a significant milestone for us. To date, we've successfully tagged 40,000 songs in our database, enabling us to categorize our catalogue with greater accuracy and nuance", says Claudia Schlifni, Head of Music & Pre-Recorded Radio Programs at MAXFIXE. "Each day, we schedule approximately 10,000 songs across Europe - in-store, via DAB, and online. By integrating Cyanite into our workflow, we're streamlining our daily scheduling processes - giving us more time to focus on what matters most: refining our playlists. While we're still fine-tuning the system, it's already delivering impressive results. We're confident that Cyanite will soon be an indispensable part of our scheduling strategy".
From local radio stations to international audio brands, whether broadcasters want a fully automated solution or prefer AI as an assistive tool in the curation process, Cyanite's sheer infinite number of data points and the flexibility of VERTEX ensures that every broadcaster can work in their preferred mode in MusicMaster for redefining their music programming workflows. It's a new era for intuitive, scalable, and emotionally resonant programming.
