Cooking Vinyl Publishing signs Her's.
31 August 2023 - Press releaseHer’s, the indie-rock duo formed in Liverpool by Norwegian bassist Audun Laading & Barrow-born singer/guitarist Stephen Fitzpatrick were signed to Manchester label Heist or Hit. Their debut release was the 9-track ‘Songs of Her’s’ in 2017, which included the breakout track ‘What Once Was’. They followed this up with a full length album in 2018 entitled ‘Invitation to Her’s’. Tragically, the band & their tour manager lost their lives in a road traffic incident in the USA in March 2019 whilst promoting their debut record Stateside.
Stephen & Audun’s legacy is a catalogue of iconic, sharp-witted, observational and infectious indie-rock gems. Echoing the gauzy sound of Mac DeMarco with guitars that chime like The Smiths lounging about the French Rivera, Her’s concocted sonic interpretations of the images that evolved inside their heads on songs such as ‘Harvey’, ‘Speed Racer’, ‘Cool With You’, ‘Marcel’ & ‘She Needs Him’, as well as the aforementioned ‘What Once Was’. The band enjoyed critical acclaim from the likes of BBC Radio 1, The Guardian, The Observer, SXSW, The Line of Best Fit, NME, Q Magazine, DIY Magazine and FADER, and their enduring appeal is evident with the band still reaching 3.5M monthly listeners on Spotify, with over 600M streams to date.
Heist or Hit, who also managed the band, continue to oversee their musical legacy in conjunction with Stephen & Audun’s families. The long-term worldwide administration deal with Cooking Vinyl Publishing will see the band’s catalogue fully represented by the London-based indie publisher.
Speaking on the deal, Heist or Hit’s Martin Colclough said, “We are honoured to announce our new partnership with Cooking Vinyl Publishing in commemoration of the enduring musical legacy of Her’s, a fantastically unique duo that has left an everlasting mark on music fans across the world. We’re incredibly proud to have witnessed the hugely positive impact that Stephen and Audun’s songs have made over the past 4 years, and this new collaboration will enable us to preserve their musical heritage and continue to inspire future generations”.
Cooking Vinyl Publishing Managing Director, Ryan Farley, added, “We’re immensely proud to be entrusted with Stephen & Audun’s amazing songs at Cooking Vinyl. It’s an honour to represent the legacy of a great band who were undeniably one of the UK’s most exciting new acts before they were cruelly taken from us. I look forward to working with Martin, Mick & Pat at Heist or Hit, and the boys’ families, to protect & promote Her’s’ music in the years ahead.”
