Cooking Vinyl Publishing Announce Signing of Norwegian songwriter & artist Rikke

Cooking Vinyl Publishing is delighted to announce the signing of Rikke Normann (pka Rikke) to a worldwide administration deal.

As an established and well-respected musician in her native Norway, Rikke has released five solo albums to date on her own Rikkeleaks label, whilst becoming a household name due to her ‘day job’ as backing vocalist to some of Norway’s biggest pop acts such as Bernhoft, Madcon and Emma Steinbakken.

Rikke was introduced to Cooking Vinyl whilst participating in the Future Echoes songwriting camp in Sweden earlier this year, where she also performed live as part of their international showcase. Her musical influences include Bjork, Lorde, Phoebe Bridgers, Haim and Highasakite, while inspiration is drawn from her father’s record collection and the will to write for the unheard & the misunderstood. These thoughts and ideas come together in song on the 100yr old grand piano in the centre of her Oslo apartment.

With previous success in Norway and Germany, and now signed to London’s Regent Street Records, Rikke is readying her next project which promises to build on her impressive career foundations and shine a light on her abilities as a unique & enigmatic songwriter who sings in full colour and wears her heart firmly on her sleeve.

On signing her deal Rikke comments, “I almost still can't believe this has happened! Being (chased down and) signed by Cooking Vinyl, I feel like Cinderella at the ball; me alongside all these wonderful indie artists and singer-songwriters that I look up to. It has given me a new and humble feeling of home, in a way. I didn't know I was looking for recognition but I always felt so different and like I don't fit in anywhere, I now know I was. I've always thought I'd have to do everything myself if I wanted to keep just "doing me", but meeting the wonderful and honest Ryan from CV, I now see that what I thought was my weakness (not fitting in and being different) actually might be my strength. It's like I have both a new calm inside, but also an even bigger drive to keep creating my universe with this support from CV! I feel so honoured and often have to pinch myself :) 

Like I said, I feel like (a high-energy, happy, artsy) Cinderella. And no matter what we achieve, it means the world to me. But yeah, I am hopeful and excited for the future!”
