Cliff Fluet to Lead Board of Industry Leaders as Chair of Music Technology UK

Newly appointed board to include Helen Sartory, Beatport; Claire Mas, Spitfire Audio; Gareth Deakin, Sonorous Global

Music Technology UK (MTUK),
the UK's only trade association dedicated to supporting music tech startups, today announced the appointment of Cliff Fluet as its inaugural Chair, leading a newly-created Board of Directors.

A prominent figure in the music and tech ecosystem, Fluet is a Partner at Lewis Silkin and Managing Director of Eleven Advisory, and he also serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees for Music Minds Matter, and Vice Chair at Help Musicians. In his new role, he will guide MTUK’s strategic direction as it continues its mission to position the UK as a global leader in music tech innovation.

Fluet's appointment is part of the rollout of MTUK's new governance structure that establishes a Board of Directors as the principal decision-making body for the organisation. The board also includes: Helen Sartory, Chief Revenue Officer, Beatport; Claire Mas, CMO, Spitfire Audio; Gareth Deakin, Founding Partner, Sonorous Global; and Matt Cartmell, Chief Executive, MTUK.

Cliff Fluet, Chair, MTUK, commented: "I am honoured to take on the role of Chair at Music Technology UK. The UK has an incredible opportunity to lead in music tech innovation globally, and MTUK is uniquely positioned to support this vibrant ecosystem. I look forward to working with Matt and the board to drive growth, foster innovation, and deliver meaningful value to our members and the wider music industry."

Matt Cartmell, Chief Executive, MTUK, said: "Cliff joins MTUK as our first Chair at an important stage in the association’s development, following our inaugural UK Music Tech Mission to Los Angeles in partnership with the Department for Business and Trade and ahead of the launch of our new report on the national music tech landscape. A supporter and enabler of MTUK since day one, Cliff brings extensive music industry knowledge and a clear passion for innovation. His leadership will help strengthen our governance and expand our impact across the UK music tech ecosystem."

MTUK will officially launch its first state of the nation report on the UK’s music tech landscape on Thursday 10 July, featuring a comprehensive overview of investment data and trends in the sector. Speakers will include Hannah Williamson (Edge VC), Kimberley Dickson (Hypertribe), Tom Fiddian (Innovate UK) and Helena Kosinski (MTUK Advisory Board Member). The event will take place at Lewis Silkin from 5.30pm – 7.30pm; more details can be found here.

With over 100 members, MTUK has established itself as a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation that bridges the gap between specialist music industry knowledge and the support needed for early-stage companies. The association fosters industry leadership, cultivates growth and investment, creates productive partnerships, and nurtures talent and innovation.

Based at the House of Music and Entertainment (H.O.M.E) in Shoreditch, London, MTUK offers its members a space to work, network, and learn, as well as regular 'Wednesday Sessions' for roundtable discussions and fireside chats.
