BPI welcomes Government initiative on music education

Geoff Taylor, Chief Executive BPI & BRIT Awards, said:

"Britain is a global leader in music from classical to pop and from grime to rock, but every great artist starts with the inspiration to play, and great teachers and vibrant, engaging music lessons in all schools can give that inspiration. This is a positive step in that Government is recognising that structured music lessons are a critical part of the curriculum and part of the wider experience children should benefit from in their education. Funding and promoting much stronger music education in all schools won't just benefit music. Music teaches confidence, collaboration and creative thinking, which are vital life skills that help in any career."
