Bob Clearmountain Receives Top Music Producers Guild Award



The Music Producers Guild are delighted to honour recording engineer, mixer and record producer, Bob Clearmountain with the Icon Award, sponsored by Solid State Logic. This is a brand-new award gifted by the MPG and presented to a person who is an Icon of the Recording Business.

Bob is one of the most respected producers in contemporary pop, well known for his work with major acts, including Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, Toto, Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams. He has been nominated for four Grammy Awards and won a Latin Grammy Award for his work engineering Ricky Martin’s MTV Unplugged.

Cameron Craig, Executive Director of the MPG said: "The MPG is incredibly proud to be awarding Bob Clearmountain the MPG Icon Award. Bob has been absolutely instrumental in creating the landscape of modern production by defining the role of the dedicated mix engineer, freeing up producers and writers to work how they see fit, knowing that their work will be accurately represented and enhanced on the final record. A lot of us literally wouldn’t be doing what we do if it wasn’t for Bob. A true icon."

In their 15th year, the awards will take place on the 27th April at The Tower Hotel St Katharine’s Way, London E1W 1LD. Tickets are on-sale now. This year will see new style awards produced by manufacturer of professional recording microphones, Neumann.

World renowned audio brand Bowers & Wilkins, widely revered for its industry-leading loudspeakers, headphones and other audio equipment, has been announced as sponsor for the prestigious Album of The Year Award. Previous award winners include, Little Simz: 'Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, Michael Kiwanuka 'Kiwanuka and 1975 A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships.

Giles Pocock, Vice President of Brand Marketing, Bowers & Wilkins, added: “We are immensely proud to be supporting the MPG Awards, celebrating the talented producers and engineers behind some of the most important and successful music of the past 12 months.”

The third and final gifted award, The MPG Inspiration Award (sponsored by Audio Note) will be announced in the coming weeks, with the remaining award winners announced at the ceremony on the 27th April.

Previous MPG award winners include Paul Epworth (Adele), Nile Rodgers, FKA Twigs, Marta Salogni (Björk, Animal Collective, Anna Meredith and Bon Iver), Dr Susan Rodgers (Prince) and Joan Armatrading.
