Blue Raincoat Music revives classic label Cooltempo Records

Cooltempo, the dance music imprint of Chrysalis Records, is set to be revived by its new owner, Blue Raincoat Music. The label boasts an enviable back catalogue of electronic and hip-hop artists including D’Angelo, Monie Love, Gang Starr, Arrested Development and Paul Hardcastle. Cooltempo came under the ownership of Blue Raincoat Music as part of their purchase of Chrysalis Records in June 2016.

Cooltempo's first release in nearly 20 years will come from internationally acclaimed DJ and producer Francesca Lombardo with her ‘Eye Ring’ single in May, followed by her debut album ‘Life Of Leaf’. The LP highlights Francesca's songwriting and vocal prowess whilst deftly merging electronica with her classical training. The result is cinematic, hypnotic and totally bewitching.

Further releases from Cooltempo will include another debut album from electronic music mainstays Infinity Ink.

Cooltempo will be distributed worldwide via Amsterdam's renowned electronic music company Armada Music. Blue Raincoat Music forged a prior relationship with Armada, brokering a similar distribution deal for KMS Records, the label owned by techno pioneer Kevin Saunderson, who Blue Raincoat Music represent for management.

Jeremy Lascelles, CEO Chrysalis Records and Blue Raincoat Music said “Cooltempo is a great brand with a great name. We are very pleased to continue its legacy by releasing such a wonderful album from Fran. We are also delighted to be continuing our relationship with Armada, who have done such impressive work on Kevin’s longstanding KMS label.”

Maykel Piron, CEO Armada Music said“ I still remember playing lots of Cooltempo releases on vinyl back in the day and it’s great to see the legendary imprint making its return. We are really excited and proud to be part of this and we’re sure Cooltempo will continue to cement its position as an electronic music staple.”
