beatBread partners with Kobalt and amra to expand artists' global earning potential

beatBread (www.beatBread.com), the AI-driven funding platform that enables artists, songwriters and independent labels to access growth capital while maintaining choice, ownership and control, has empowered its thousands of clients by offering publishing administration via Kobalt Music Group. In addition, beatBread has partnered with amra for digital licensing and collections outside the US.

The new agreements will allow beatBread songwriters and artists to earn and collect royalties from their work globally through Kobalt and amra respectively. Kobalt is the leading independent music publishing destination for songwriters and publishers, powered by best-in-class technology. amra licenses and collects royalties from digital services in over 200 territories directly, resulting in increased royalties, faster payments and increased data transparency.

The agreement allows beatBread to extend its existing funding of publishing rights to artists who are currently unpublished and under-collecting their performance and mechanical revenues.  In late 2023, beatBread added a "publisher agnostic" advance feature to its existing funding platform, enabling artists, writers and labels to receive flexible funding, regardless of their publisher or collection society. These new partnerships open up funding options for artists whose works are not currently represented. Kobalt, amra and beatBread will also team up to offer further services to songwriters in the future, with more announcements to be made later this year.

"beatbread's funding platform is open, and we are committed to providing access, choice and empowerment for all creators, regardless of their chosen publisher or PRO," commented beatBread CEO Peter Sinclair. "But we have found that providing open funding and open architecture isn't enough. Many artists on our platform have significant uncollected or undercollected publishing revenue. This partnership provides artists who control their publishing rights and qualify for funding on the beatBread platform with a turnkey access to Kobalt and amra's best in class collections."

Laurent Hubert, CEO of Kobalt Music Group commented: "beatBread has redefined financing options for labels, artists and songwriters in the modern music industry. Empowering songwriters to collect the revenue they have earned in an efficient and transparent manner has always been our mission at Kobalt and we are excited to work with beatBread to extend this service to the thousands of artists who rely on their platform who do not already have a music publishing administrator."

Tomas Ericcson, CEO of amra commented: "We are excited to embark on this journey with a company that is truly innovative and dedicated to the support of songwriters big and small. In this fast-paced era where music transcends boundaries and streaming reshapes our listening habits, our mission is to ensure songwriters and artists are compensated to the fullest extent."

The collaboration with Kobalt/amra also broadens beatBread's "funding as a service" offering that enable labels and distributors to provide artists with flexible funding integrated into their own digital experiences, with their own branding.

Since launch, beatBread has funded artists, songwriters and independent labels and distributors on six continents since launch in late 2020, with funding amounts ranging from as little as $1000 to $5 million. beatBread advances funds on existing catalog, as well as new and unreleased music, providing growth capital for working artists and songwriters. All advances are repaid from a share of an artist's streaming and airplay revenues, over a period of the artist's choosing. Advance agreements leave touring, synch, and merchandise revenue streams untouched; do not place restrictions around how funds are used; and leave the choice of marketing and distribution partners in the artist's own hands.
