AWAL signs Laufey to global recordings deal22 April 2022 - Press release
AWAL seals a global deal with rising artist Laufey ahead of forthcoming debut album.
AWAL announces a global deal with Los Angeles-based singer, composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, Laufey (pron. / lay-vay / ) as she gears up for the release of her debut album. The recordings deal offers the singer a full range of services and resources, including marketing, creative, A&R, radio, synch licensing, brand partnerships and worldwide distribution.
Raised between Reykjavík and Washington, DC, and now based in Los Angeles, the Icelandic-Chinese songstress makes music that is the byproduct of rich cultural heritages and mixed musical influences. While attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Laufey began cementing her distinct blend of tender jazz melodies and slow-burning R&B grooves. "Laufey's distinct sound, substance and vocal style are immediately magnetic," says the AWAL Recordings President of North America, Ron Cerrito. "She is someone with abundant natural talent, who took the time to perfect her craft as a songwriter and performer. We are thrilled to be her partner as we set our sights on building a global audience."
"AWAL is a truly progressive company that strives to constantly evolve based on the current and future needs of each client, and not simply subject them to a 'one size fits all' model. They are the ideal partners for the project; Laufey and I are thrilled to be in partnership with them," says her manager Max Gredinger.
Laufey's brand new single and its accompanying video "Everything I Know About Love" blends elements of jazz and pop with honest lyricism and lush arrangements while intimately capturing the vast range of experiences that can come with falling in love. The new single follows her previous releases "Valentine" and "Love To Keep Me Warm" featuring the English indie-pop artist, dodie. Her forthcoming album is set to be released this summer alongside more live dates, including performances at this year's Newport and Portland Jazz Festivals.
