AWAL Hires Michael Pukownik As Senior Vice President Head Of Artist Marketing North America
14 June 2018 - Press releaseAWAL, Kobalt’s recordings company, today announced that the company has hired Michael Pukownik as senior vice president, head of artist marketing, North America. Based in AWAL’s Los Angeles office, Pukownik will oversee artist marketing campaigns for the AWAL roster as well as driving digital marketing strategy.
Commenting on the hire, AWAL CEO, Lonny Olinick said, “We are at a critical moment of growth at AWAL and investing in talented leaders is of the utmost importance as we continue to deliver the best option for independent artists. Michael has proven he can lead a team, while developing and delivering expansive campaigns that can and will benefit our artists.”
Pukownik joins AWAL with more than 18 years of music industry and marketing experience. Most recently, he spent 3 years as vice president of marketing at Warner Bros. Records, where he ran successful campaigns for superstar artists such as Gorillaz, and developed new acts like The Shelters. Prior to that, he spent 10 years at EMI/UMG/Capitol Records where he started as a program manager leading the creation of new digital supply chains for the global digital operations unit before transitioning to more artist-focused roles within EMI, including leading a digital marketing team as senior director of digital marketing. Before beginning his music industry career, Pukownik worked for DoubleClick Inc and Booz Allen & Hamilton.
