Live Events Access Charter
The Live Events Access Charter has been central to our work and impact in the sector. It provides a framework for venues and event organisers to build disability equality into all aspects of their productions, while supporting disabled Mystery Shoppers to provide constructive feedback and encourage further positive change.
The Charter was relaunched this year reflecting the expansion of Attitude is Everything’s activities – which encompass everything from the Next Stage Artist Network programme to the Beyond The Music programme for active and aspiring industry professionals with access requirements. It now operates as a comprehensive and dynamic online learning platform, offering Charter members access to user-friendly and accessible resources, templates and guidance
Our legacy of impact
From the early Charter of Best Practice Tour in 2001 to long-term volunteering partnerships with Glastonbury, AiE has been at the forefront of changing the sector. Major milestones include:

-
2017: launching the DIY Access Guide, the Next Stage artist development project; Beyond the Music Professionals programme

-
2024: AiE was commissioned to write the standards for the All In accessibility project, created through a partnership between Arts Council England, Arts Council Ireland, Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Arts Council of Wales, and Creative Scotland, it further cemented AiE’s position as a sector thought leader.
A movement powered by partnership
Attitude is Everything works hand-in-hand with the music industry, with longstanding partnerships with the likes LIVE, UK Music, PRS for Music, PPL, AIM, Black Lives in Music, AIP, Help Musicians, the Young Promoters Network, Glastonbury Festival and many more. Together, these partners help drive the shared goal of a sector where access is the foundation of excellence, not an afterthought.
Catherine Pymar, CEO of Attitude is Everything, said:
“Attitude is Everything’s work over the past 25 years has dramatically improved the music and live events industries. The passion and dedication of the team to bring about change has meant that thousands more disabled people are actively involved in the industry, as performers, professionals and audiences. But our work won’t stop until barriers to participation are removed. In celebrating Attitude is Everything’s achievements over the years, we will also be building on them to continue our work in breaking down barriers until the music and live event industries value disabled people as audience members, performers, professionals and volunteers.

An artist who is part of Attitude is Everything’s Next Stage network said:
“My experience with Attitude is Everything has also been so eye-opening – I have learnt so many things about myself that I couldn’t even begin to list them, and it has really boosted my self-confidence and made sense of and validated a lot of past experiences within music and the wider workplace.”
A venue on Attitude is Everything’s Live Events Access Charter said:
“Working with the team at Attitude is Everything has really helped us understand the areas we needed to focus on to make the biggest positive difference to our customers with special access needs. It has also encouraged us to think about removing physical barriers to access across the events for all our customers wherever possible. I'd strongly recommend working with the Attitude Is Everything team as they have been really supportive while we improve our provision.”
