Amazon Music and The 1975 partner to launch “Mindshower” digital detox21 May 2020 - Press release
Amazon Music has announced a partnership with The 1975 to coincide with the launch of the band’s forthcoming new album Notes On A Conditional Form. The “Mindshower” digital detox featured in The 1975’s music video for “The Birthday Party” has launched as a virtual space for fans to explore, where they are encouraged to ‘Learn, Create, Share’. They will also be able to access exclusive downloadable video and music content.
Learn - Within the waiting room area, fans can read a set of exclusive Zines created by long time collaborators of The 1975 (Tobias Rylander - set design, Jon Gilmore - production, Jordan Hughes - photography, Sam Burgess Johnson - design, Patricia Villirillo - styling/creative direction) to inspire fans to learn about their respective fields. There are also never before seen photos and insights behind the scenes.
Create - The 1975 are opening their archives, and for the first time ever fans can download a suite of assets linked to Notes On A Conditional Form so that they can create their own remixes and art inspired by the new album.
Share - Fans are encouraged to upload their creations to the “Mindshower” digital detox space. The 1975 will be running a competition for fans, where artwork designed by the winning entrant will be eligible to be featured in Amazon Music’s marketing campaign for the new album, including on billboards in London and the Amazon homepage.
Alexa began teasing the “Mindshower” digital detox webpage (www.mindshower.ai) earlier this week, and is serving as an audio guide now that the ‘Learn, Create, Share’ space has launched. Simply say “Alexa, enter Mindshower.”
Talking about the “Mindshower” digital detox, Dirty Hit’s Jamie Oborne said: “With ‘Mindshower’, we wanted to offer the fans a unique insight into the world of The 1975. Using the creative from ‘The Birthday Party’ video, we worked alongside Amazon Music to create an experience where their fans can not only learn more from the band, but also use this information to create and share their own content. Our hope is that ‘Mindshower’ will serve as both an insight into the making of Notes On A Conditional Form and the themes behind it, and that it will inspire fans to share their own reflections of the record through the art and music they create.”
